Description:
Restorative yoga is designed to relax the body, calm the mind, and encourage emotional relaxation. We will begin with breath work (Pranayama), followed by asana, using bolsters, blankets, and blocks to prepare the body and nervous system for yoga nidra.
Yoga Nidra is derived from two Sanskrit words, yoga meaning yolk/union, and nidra meaning sleep. During yoga nidra, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness functions at a deeper level of awareness. Yoga Nidra is a process by which one can travel from the conscious to the unconscious through the subconscious, planting seeds for positive change. Yoga Nidra is a Pratyahara practice where one withdraws awareness from external sources. Much like guided Savasana, the experience is received so the body is relaxed, and the mind is clear and open to receive seeds planted and fertilized in the subconscious.
